Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)’s

  • Congratulations. You have a typical canine. All of the dogs on my website are typical family dogs; most did not sit or stay on command. I expect dogs to act like the canines they were created to be! I only need a fraction of a second to capture your dog, so there is no need for them to be still. We will take as much time as we need during the session to be sure your dog is comfortable and relaxed with me, my camera and the surroundings. Dogs first. Always.

I literally guarantee your dog’s success- I’ll refund your session fee if you don’t love your images.

  • No problem! I require a leash, to comply with most park leash laws, and for safety and control. Often the human is standing right next to the dog, holding the leash. Through the magic of ninja style photo editing, I remove the human and the leash.

  • Of course! She is a typical feline. I am used to this, and usually I give cats time to inspect the studio space before we even consider encouraging them to sit for portraits.

I use a combination of tricks and treats (and some catnip spray) to entice cats and make them feel comfortable.

  • Yes! I welcome families, and often take family photos that include pets. We also take individual portraits of the pets and the kids.

If you have a family without pets, or do not want to include the pets in the photos that’s great. I love the humans as well as the pets. All beings are welcome.

  • Reservation Retainer is $350 and wall art and albums are an additional investment. Wall art starts at $500.

Since this is customized to you, investments vary depending on your final artwork selections. Most clients invest around $2000.

Please contact me and we can create customized artwork just for you.

  • I am so sorry - that hurts my heart. One of the big drawbacks to having a pet is that we usually outlive them.

I am trained in pet loss and grief and am part of the One Last Network.

I am also part of the Joy Session Network, a collaborative of photographers and other animal service providers who support families with pet loss.

I will make every effort to schedule a session on short notice and to your pet’s comfort. These sessions are typically at your home, but can be at a park or my studio if your pet is able to travel.

  • It’s easier than falling in love with puppies.

The first step is to decide you want to book a session. Once your session is booked we will meet online or in person to plan your dream session. We can discuss style and location at this session. Need a quiet out of the way park, or a colorful garden? Or is a studio more your speed? No problem, I have many favorite locations.

On session day, all you have to do is arrive on time, relax and be your gorgeous self. I’ll take good care of you and your pet.

About one week after our session, we will meet in my Hopkins studio to review your images and finalize your custom wall art or album order.

When your artwork is complete, I will let you know. We can meet at a mutually convenient location, or you can pick it up. If you live in the Twin Cities area, I will even drop it off at your home or office!

  • One of my business pillars is community support. Please send me an email and we can talk specifics.

  • Nope! The more pets the better, I say. The session might be a little longer so we can photograph all the pets. I may also ask you to consider bringing a helper to the session.

  • Absolutely! I love diversity.

I recommend using my studio to accommodate everyone’s needs.

  • I never put a time limit on sessions. I encourage everyone to relax, so they can be their most adorable selves.

We go at the pace of your pet and/or your children and sometimes it takes a awhile (and sometimes it goes quickly).

Typical sessions with one or two pets last about an hour. Sessions with more than two pets, or more people, take longer.

I never charge a higher fee for more than one pet - why would I penalize you for loving more beings?

The most important factor for me is making sure all beings are happy and enjoying the process.

    Animals first. Always.
