All About CBD- is it right for your pet?

As a pet photographer and a passionate animal lover, I am always looking for ways to enhance the well-being of my four-legged friends. Like me, you may have heard about it, or maybe even purchased CBD products at a pet event. Minneapolis is bursting with dog friendly events in the summer, and they are often brimming with myriad products for your pooch. Confused about what to get? (Or whether you should get CBD at all?)

I was too.

Until I met Andee Robb. She is a Safer Beauty Advocate and is my trusted resource when it comes to products that are safe for humans and pets alike.

She offers products that are safe for humans and pets alike. She told me that she was looking for something natural to help calm her adorable dogs after they had surgery. And adorable they are! Here are her two dogs. Aren’t they adorable??

About CBD and THC

CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the most common cannabinoids found in cannabis products. THC and CBD are in both marijuana and hemp. Marijuana contains much more THC than hemp, while hemp has a lot of CBD.

CBD oil, or cannabidiol, is a natural compound found in hemp that has been shown to have a variety of health benefits for both humans and pets. CBD does not have any psychoactive effects and is completely safe for your pets to consume.

THC, on the other hand, has psychoactive effects. THC binds with receptors -- mostly in the brain - that control pain, mood, and other feelings. That's why THC can make you feel euphoric and give you that so-called high. Because of this effect, it is generally not considered safe for pets to consume.

CBD doesn't cause that high. Instead, it's thought to work with other elements in the body linked to feelings of well-being.

CBD comes in many forms, including oils, extracts, capsules, patches, vapes, and topical preparations for use on skin. If you’re hoping to provide the calming effects of CB,to your pets, you can get it in treat or tincture forms. CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and diluting it with a carrier oil, such as coconut or hemp seed oil.

I recommend the products from Green Compass. Andee is offering $10 off your purchase, just because you’re a Pawsh Photography follower. For $10 OFF, use FriendShare Code: 431799.

Benefits of CBD for pets

One of the most significant benefits of CBD oil for pets is its ability to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Many pets suffer from separation anxiety, fear of loud noises, or other phobias that can cause them distress. CBD oil has been shown to help calm these fears and soothe anxious pets, allowing them to lead a more relaxed and peaceful life.

CBD oil can also help manage pain and inflammation, making it a great option for pets with chronic pain conditions or those recovering from surgery, or those who have hip dysplasia. Research suggests that CBD oil may be helpful in reducing symptoms associated with seizures and epilepsy, making it an excellent option for pets with these conditions.

As a pet photographer, I meet many pets, and I want all of them to live their best life. Using CBD oil might help your pet, either for a short time after surgery or to help manage long term conditions like anxiety and pain. As with any supplement, it's important to do your research, choose a high-quality product, and consult with your veterinarian before use.
